When I decided to start my first business, it was exciting and stressful but it meant taking control of my income and life. I never thought I would have a business of my own. Being an employee is what I was use to being. The idea started after realizing the stress of a fixed work environment and someone close to me with a medical issue would make having a flexible schedule harder to create. I remember throughout my career, I was always doing something on the side(part-time job, interning, volunteering) while also having a full time job. Another realization about myself is that I never settle. I work at it until I get what I want. That helped me to realize the knowledge I had gained from becoming a veterinary technician could be valuable in starting a pet sitting business. I decided to start my business on the side until I gained enough clients to quit my job. Therefore, if I wanted to have kids, I could build it into a good source of income and enjoy working with animals and being there for my children. I had my husband build a website for me and design business cards. Getting the word out was scary as I am usually quiet.
This experience has given me the confidence to start this new blog and to help moms who are in the process or want to start the same transition. We do not give ourselves enough credit for experience, talent, and accomplishments we have achieved. Ultimately, I used my skills to start a business so I could have flexibility, decide how and when I worked, and encourage any other mom looking to change her circumstances to not think it is impossible and take action. Everything that has come my way because I chose to push on through fear, rejection, and judgement and I know we all have similar thoughts. I hop this inspires you to keep trying and schedule a 20 minute discovery call with me to see if we can work together http://bit.ly/movinmomscall
